Pine-Strawberry School's Dean Pederson: AZ Rural Teacher of the Year
Last April he was chosen from two dozen educators nominated across Gila County as 'Teachers of the Year,' and last week Dean Pederson of Pine-Strawberry School District earned statewide recognition as Arizona Rural Teacher of the Year at a statewide conference. "We had a record number of nomination letters for various teachers throughout Gila County last spring," said Roy Sandoval, Gila County Superintendent of Schools.
"Congratulations to Dean Pederson of Pine-Strawberry School -- dean has been teaching for 51 years. In addition to teaching, Dean volunteers for activities and programs that make a positive difference in young people’s lives and surrounding community. Other career activities include School Counselor, Peer Counseling, Crisis Intervention Specialist, Special Olympian Mentor, Archery Team Founder, and many other activities and careers that he has on his long list of services.
