Outdoor Fire Restrictions Lifted in Unincorporated Areas
Recent widespread rains have led Tonto National Forest officials to rescind fire restrictions on the forest as of noon today (Monday, July 17).
Gila County Ordinance 11-02 stipulates that each time the Tonto National Forest takes action on fire restrictions, Gila County will take a similar action. Therefore, fire restrictions for all unincorporated areas within Gila County will also be lifted, effective immediately.
Gila County’s fire restrictions exclude all incorporated cities, towns, and tribal lands. When in place, the restrictions prohibit residents from building, maintaining, attending or igniting open outdoor fires (including charcoal grills), bonfires, campfires, or fireworks. The complete ordinance can be found at: http://www.gilacountyaz.gov/government/board_of_supervisors/ordinances.php under “Open Outdoor Fire”
Even as fire restrictions are lifted, Gila County residents are encouraged to remain vigilant when using potential ignition sources.
